Litho-lamination, made in Stockport.

Litho-lamination is a substrate technique: a litho-printed sheet — fine halftones, photographic imagery, Pantone-matched colour, premium coatings — bonded to a heavier board the press can’t print directly. The result is retail-strength packaging with print quality that wouldn’t survive a direct hit from the press. We print the show face on the B1 5-colour press, laminate it to your chosen substrate, then die-cut and finish on the same Bobst line that runs our folding cartons. One factory. Every step.

  • 01Premium litho-quality print — fine halftones, photographic imagery, Pantone-matched spot colour, UV gloss and beyond.
  • 02Laminated to the substrate that fits — E-flute, B-flute, microflute corrugated; solid board; greyboard.
  • 03Print, laminate, die-cut, finish — every step in the same building, no outsourced lamination hop.

THE SPEC

Capabilities & specifications.

A baseline of what we routinely print, laminate, and cut — the spec list buyers compare against when shortlisting a litho-laminated supplier. Anything outside this range, ask: bespoke is the default, not the exception. Specs to enquire against:

END-TO-END, IN-HOUSE

Under one roof.

Every litho-laminated job moves through four stages without leaving the building. The B1 press lays down ink and coating on the show-face stock. We laminate the printed sheet to the substrate the brief calls for. Bobst die-cutting and finishing take the laminated panel to formed blanks. No outsourced lamination, no third-party finishing — just two production lines and a lamination step between them.

“[ Testimonial placeholder — typically 30–60 words from a procurement or marketing buyer who commissioned a litho-laminated job: what they ordered (premium gift box, retail carton, POS structure), what made it harder than usual (colour-critical print, substrate fit, scale), what we delivered, what they took away. Aim for a quote that names a measurable outcome rather than a generic ‘great service’. ]”

Common questions.

What's litho-lamination, and when do I need it?
Litho-lamination bonds a litho-printed sheet — the show face — to a heavier board the press can’t print directly. You need it when the brief calls for premium print quality (fine halftones, photographic imagery, Pantone-matched colour, premium coatings) on a structure that’s too thick, too rigid, or too absorbent for a direct hit from the press. Premium gift boxes, large-format retail cartons, point-of-sale, and presentation packs are the typical outputs.
What substrates can you laminate to?
[TBC — typical substrate range, e.g. E-flute, B-flute, and microflute corrugated; solid board; greyboard; honeycomb; gsm/thickness range to confirm.] If you have a specific substrate in mind — graded for its rigidity, its weight, or its compliance with food-contact rules — we’ll laminate to it. Material chain-of-custody is FSC-certified through to despatch.
What's the largest sheet you can laminate?
Our press runs B1 sheets — 700×1000mm — which sets the maximum laminated panel we can produce from a single piece. Larger finished structures are built from multiple laminated panels die-cut and assembled. If your finished pack is bigger than B1, share dimensions and we’ll plan the panel layout.
Do you handle die-cutting and finishing on the laminated panel?
Yes. The same Bobst line that die-cuts our folding cartons also cuts and creases laminated panels — inline embossing, stripping, and hand-fed die cutting for short runs or awkward shapes. The laminated job moves from the press through the lamination step to the Bobst without leaving the building.
What's a typical lead time for a litho-laminated job?
Most jobs move from approved artwork to plate within [X] working days, with print, lamination, and die-cutting scheduled on a timeline we share with each quote. End-to-end production in one factory removes the supply-chain hops that add days to a typical lead time.
